472,659 Discounted School Holiday Train Tickets Still Available Until July 5, 2026
The school holidays always bring stories close to people's lives. There are children finally returning home to see their parents, families planning trips together after saving up for a long time, and residents using the school holidays to visit relatives, travel, or start small businesses in their destinations.
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) noted that the 30 percent transportation discount program from the Government through the Directorate General of Railways, Ministry of Transportation, is still available for the departure period from June 20 to July 5, 2026.
According to data as of June 23, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time, of the total cumulative capacity of 1,174,624 seats, 701,965 tickets have been booked, or 59.76 percent. This leaves 472,659 seats available for people wishing to travel during the school holidays.
KAI Vice President of Corporate Communications Anne Purba stated that this transportation discount program is a crucial support for the public, enabling them to plan their school holiday trips more affordably.
"This figure of 701,965 customers is not an empty number. It includes stories of children returning home to hug their parents, families finally able to travel together, students enjoying their holidays, and members of the public helped to travel at lower costs. KAI expresses its appreciation to the government, through the Ministry of Transportation's Directorate General of Railways (DJKA), because this program is directly felt by customers,"

In the following period, bookings continued to grow, including 50,467 customers for departures on June 26, 2026, and 48,786 customers for June 28, 2026.
In terms of departure stations, the five stations with the highest volumes were Pasarsenen with 91,651 customers, Yogyakarta with 50,107 customers, Semarang Tawang with 32,251 customers, Lempuyangan with 29,669 customers, and Bekasi with 27,251 customers. Anne explained that train travel during school holidays has a broader impact beyond simply moving passengers from one city to another. Each departure brings economic activity around the station, from connecting transportation, food vendors, accommodations, tourism operators, to local MSMEs that benefit from the increased public visitation.
"When a family gets off at their destination station, economic activity also grows. There are connecting vehicles used, food purchased, souvenirs brought home, and tourist attractions visited. That's where the train plays a role as a link between family travel and the community's economic pulse,"
KAI encourages people who haven't yet made travel plans to take advantage of the remaining discounted tickets while they still have space. Customers can check schedules, connections, and ticket availability through the Access by KAI app, the official kai.id website, and other official sales channels.
Anne also urged customers to plan their trips well, arrive at the station early, ensure their ticket details match their identity, and safeguard their belongings during the trip.
"School holidays are always a time to create memories. KAI wants every trip to be safe, comfortable, orderly, and beneficial to the community around the station. While tickets are still available, let's plan our trips early and take advantage of this discount program wisely," said
