Travelers are increasingly choosing premium rail experiences that combine privacy, comfort, and personalized service. During the first half of 2026, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) recorded 26,123 passengers using its Suite Class Compartment service, representing a 64.76% increase compared with 15,855 passengers during the same period in 2025.
In absolute terms, the number of passengers grew by 10,268 within a year. This significant growth reflects the rising demand for train travel that offers private space, enhanced comfort, personalized service, and a more relaxing travel experience.

KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba said that Suite Class Compartment was designed to deliver a seamless premium travel experience from the moment passengers arrive at the station, enjoy the lounge facilities, settle into their private compartment, savor onboard dining, and arrive at their destination. According to her, the 64.76% increase demonstrates customers' growing appreciation for a travel experience that emphasizes privacy and personalized comfort. With a wide range of onboard amenities, passengers can rest, work, enjoy entertainment, or simply admire the scenery from the comfort of their own private space.

Suite Class Compartment is currently available on three of KAI's flagship train services: Bima (Gambir–Surabaya Gubeng round trip), Argo Semeru (Gambir–Surabaya Gubeng round trip), and Argo Bromo Anggrek (Gambir–Surabaya Pasar Turi round trip).

Each Suite Class Compartment coach features 16 exclusive private compartments equipped with automatic sliding doors, providing passengers with greater privacy and comfort throughout their journey.

Inside each compartment, the seat reclines up to 180 degrees to transform into a fully flat bed. It can also rotate and is equipped with massage and heating functions, ensuring maximum comfort during long-distance travel.
To support both productivity and relaxation, every compartment includes a foldable table that can be used as either a dining table or a workspace. Passengers also enjoy a personal television connected to the Train Onboard Infotainment System, offering a variety of entertainment options throughout the journey.

The premium experience is further enhanced by onboard dining services featuring appetizers, main courses, and desserts, all served directly in each private compartment by dedicated onboard attendants who are ready to assist passengers throughout the trip.

Before departure, Suite Class Compartment passengers can also access the Executive Lounge at selected stations, where they can enjoy comfortable waiting areas, Wi-Fi access, and complimentary food and beverages. Anne explained that every touchpoint plays an important role in shaping the overall travel experience. Therefore, KAI continues to focus on the comfort of its lounges, the readiness of its facilities, cleanliness, food quality, and attentive onboard service to ensure passengers enjoy a memorable journey from start to finish.

Beyond its premium amenities, Suite Class Compartment also offers spectacular views across Java. Passengers traveling on Bima and Argo Semeru can enjoy scenic landscapes featuring rice fields, mountains, and vibrant cities along the southern and central routes.

Meanwhile, passengers aboard Argo Bromo Anggrek are treated to views of urban areas, expansive rice fields, and the northern coastal region of Java. Large windows inside each private compartment allow passengers to enjoy these changing landscapes in a peaceful and comfortable atmosphere.

From a design perspective, Suite Class Compartment embraces the "Midnight Blue (BIMA)" concept, combining deep blue tones, balanced decorative lines, and a gold crown emblem to create an elegant and sophisticated identity inspired by achievement and excellence.

The interior also incorporates Indonesian cultural elements through Borobudur-inspired ornaments that symbolize a journey toward enlightenment. Ceiling decorations feature Talawang carvings, representing protection and courage, complemented by hornbill motifs symbolizing purity and strength.

The blue-green interior creates a calm and harmonious ambiance. Premium materials such as granite, High Moisture Resistant (HMR) boards, and Glassfibre Reinforced Cement (GRC) are used to enhance durability while reducing plastic usage.

Passenger comfort is further supported by granite-finished restrooms, with every design element carefully integrated to create a long-distance travel experience that is comfortable, relaxing, and memorable.
Anne reaffirmed that KAI will continue evaluating customer needs, maintaining service excellence, preserving its premium facilities, and introducing innovations that enhance the passenger experience. Through this commitment, KAI aims to ensure every journey delivers exceptional comfort from the moment passengers arrive at the station until they reach their destination.
