iE305 KRL Trainsets Ready to Support Jabodetabek, 6 Trainsets Return to Service
Six of the seven iE305/CLI-225 KRL trainsets undergoing maintenance have now returned to service. PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), together with PT Industri Kereta Api (Persero) or INKA, is continuing work on the final trainset to maintain the readiness of Commuter Line Jabodetabek services amid high demand for urban mobility.
The iE305/CLI-225 KRL trainsets manufactured by INKA use an SF12 configuration, consisting of 12 cars in each trainset. With this capacity, keeping each trainset ready for service is important to support operations on routes with high passenger volumes.
One of these routes is the Commuter Line Bogor Line, one of the busiest lines in Jabodetabek in terms of passenger mobility. From January to August 2026, the Bogor Line served 105,704,913 customers, averaging around 435,000 customers per day.
KAI’s Vice President of Corporate Communication, Anne Purba, explained that six of the seven trainsets undergoing maintenance have completed all inspection stages and returned to service, while one trainset is still being finalized. KAI and INKA continue to coordinate so that all trainsets can return to service as soon as possible while ensuring that every inspection stage meets safety and reliability standards.
According to Anne, the readiness of SF12 trainsets is essential to maintaining service capacity on routes with high passenger mobility. For this reason, maintenance is being accelerated while safety remains the primary standard before each trainset returns to operation.
The maintenance process is being carried out in stages, covering system inspections, technical component checks, and testing before each trainset is declared ready to return to service.
The completion of the seven trainsets was initially planned in stages. As the work progressed, six trainsets completed all inspection stages and returned to operation, while maintenance on the final trainset continues in coordination with INKA.
KAI, INKA, and other relevant parties are also maintaining close coordination to ensure the quality of the work while keeping the trainsets ready to meet operational needs. Anne emphasized that the acceleration remains within a safety-focused process, with each trainset only returning to service after all inspection and testing stages have met the required standards.
Rolling stock readiness remains important amid the high demand for Commuter Line Jabodetabek services. From January to August 2026, KRL Jabodetabek served 277,272,682 customers.
Anne added that KAI, together with KAI Commuter and INKA, continues to maintain rolling stock readiness so service capacity can keep pace with customers’ travel needs. The current focus is on completing maintenance of the final trainset while maintaining the required safety and reliability standards.
