KAI Records 43,000 Customers for Kereta Petani dan Pedagang, with Fares at Only IDR 3,000

With fares of IDR 3,000 per trip, Kereta Petani dan Pedagang has served 43,780 customers on the Merak–Rangkasbitung route from December 1, 2025, through September 14, 2026. The service has become an affordable travel option for communities using the train for work, trade, and everyday activities.

The service provides a convenient travel option for people along the Merak–Rangkasbitung route, particularly those who rely on public transportation for their daily activities. Its affordable fare also makes train travel more accessible for local communities.

Vice President of Corporate Communication KAI Anne Purba explained that Kereta Petani dan Pedagang is part of KAI’s efforts to provide transportation options that respond to community mobility needs. KAI continues to monitor customer activity and travel patterns as part of its ongoing service evaluation.

Among the stations served, Cikeusal Station recorded the highest customer boarding and alighting activity, with 25,265 during the period. It was followed by Rangkasbitung Station with 19,644, Serang Station with 12,035, Merak Station with 8,065, and Cilegon Station with 7,136.

The high activity at Cikeusal reflects the mobility needs of the local community. According to the Central Statistics Agency’s Cikeusal District in Figures 2025, the area has economic activities spanning agriculture, trade, and other local businesses.

These activities make transportation connectivity an important part of everyday mobility. With its scheduled service, Kereta Petani dan Pedagang gives communities around Cikeusal another option for traveling to destinations along the Merak–Rangkasbitung route.

Meanwhile, Rangkasbitung Station also recorded relatively high customer activity. As one of the areas with active community and economic activities in Lebak Regency, Rangkasbitung is an important point for customers traveling along the route.

Anne noted that the affordable fare is one of the factors supporting the use of the service. At IDR 3,000 per one-way trip, Kereta Petani dan Pedagang offers an economical option for customers carrying out their daily activities.

KAI will continue to evaluate the Kereta Petani dan Pedagang service based on customer activity and evolving mobility needs along the Merak–Rangkasbitung route.
