Watch Party for the World Cup Final on the Train! KAI Screens Spain vs Argentina on 14 Trips
The atmosphere of the final match between Spain and Argentina will accompany the nighttime journey of customers of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) on Monday, July 20, 2026. Through the Bola Gembira 2026 program, a watch party has been prepared at the East Hall of Yogyakarta Station as well as match screenings in the Dining Car on 14 trips covering 10 train services.
The match, broadcast via Televisi Republik Indonesia (TVRI) National and TVRI Sport, will begin at 02:00 Western Indonesia Time (WIB). Most of the journeys providing the final screening have departed on Sunday afternoon and evening, July 19, 2026, so customers will still be on board when the match takes place.
Vice President Corporate Communication KAI, Anne Purba, explained that the final screening at the station and in the Dining Car is prepared to provide a different experience for customers in enjoying their nighttime journey. This final moment is brought into the travel space so customers can enjoy the match together in a comfortable atmosphere, both while at the station and during the train journey.
In Yogyakarta, the activity will take place at the East Hall of Yogyakarta Station, which is also known to the public as Tugu Station. The event area will open starting at 00:30 WIB, while the match will begin at 02:00 WIB.
Customers can enter the watch party area free of charge by showing an electronic boarding pass or train ticket dated July 19–20, 2026. The activity will also feature a match preview with Indonesian football legend Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto.
The excitement in the East Hall will be complemented by live music, interactive games, free food and beverages from tenants, as well as door prize giveaways. Promotional materials display illustrations of prizes such as football jerseys, tablets, smartwatches, train travel vouchers, and tumblers. The actual prizes will follow the organizer’s terms, as the images shown are illustrative.
Anne invited customers to arrive starting at 00:30 WIB by bringing travel tickets for the specified dates and to follow staff directions so the event can run in an orderly, safe, and enjoyable manner.

Anne explained that the program is one of the newest thematic entertainment experiences on board trains. The Dining Car is utilized as a space for customers to enjoy the screening together, dine, and interact during the journey. Its implementation continues to consider the flow of food and beverage service, order within the train, staff access, as well as the comfort of other customers who choose to rest.
The Dining Car is becoming increasingly multifunctional as a space for dining, interaction, and enjoying thematic entertainment, with all activities continuing to follow operational and travel safety regulations.
The utilization of the Dining Car as an entertainment space goes hand in hand with the improvement of rolling stock carried out by KAI. Based on company data, Balai Yasa Tegal has completed the modification of 17 M1 Dining Cars over the past two years. The M1 Dining Car supports services in executive-class train sets. A total of 4 units were completed in 2024 and 13 units in 2025. All 17 units are already in operation on several train services.
In 2026, an additional 10 M1 Dining Cars are undergoing work at Balai Yasa Tegal, a KAI facility that handles maintenance, repair, and development of railway rolling stock. Each car is inspected starting from the base frame, wheel system, braking, electrical systems, lighting, interior layout, to customer facilities. Completed cars also undergo quality inspections and functional testing before being operated.
The development of M1 Dining Car services has expanded to journeys in Java and Sumatra. One of the latest services is available on the Sindang Marga Train route Kertapati–Lubuklinggau round trip in the South Sumatra region.
