The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and tea from the dining car, the sound of the locomotive preparing to depart, and the warm smiles of railway staff welcoming thousands of passengers every weekend—traveling by train has always been about more than simply reaching a destination. It is also about sharing a journey where passengers show consideration and respect for one another.

From January to September 2025, KAI served more than 41.4 million passengers across its long-distance and local train services. This steadily growing number reflects the continued popularity of rail travel as one of the preferred modes of transportation across Java and Sumatra.

While modern facilities and improved services play an important role in creating a pleasant travel experience, one simple factor makes every journey even more enjoyable: mutual respect among passengers.

"A comfortable journey begins with respect for one another. When we queue in an orderly manner, speak politely, or make room for fellow passengers, the atmosphere on board becomes warmer and more welcoming," said Anne Purba, Vice President of Public Relations at KAI.

KAI encourages all passengers to practice good travel etiquette throughout their journey. Simple actions—such as keeping the train clean, storing luggage without blocking the aisle, using headphones when listening to music, and speaking at a considerate volume—can make a meaningful difference. Passengers who are feeling unwell are encouraged to wear a mask, not only to protect themselves but also as a gesture of consideration for others. Those bringing food on board are also advised to choose meals with mild aromas to help maintain a comfortable environment for everyone.

Respecting each other's privacy is equally important. Passengers are encouraged not to take photos or videos of others without their permission.

Throughout every journey, KAI staff at stations and on board are present not only to maintain safety and order but also to ensure passengers enjoy the best possible travel experience. From a friendly greeting during boarding and assistance with seating to the welcoming service provided by the KAI Services dining car, every interaction reflects the KAI Group's commitment to "Serving You Better."

As the Christmas and New Year holiday travel season approaches, KAI has prepared its trains, infrastructure, and personnel to ensure that passengers can travel safely and comfortably. After all, a pleasant journey is not only the responsibility of KAI—it is also created by every passenger who chooses to share the journey with courtesy, respect, and kindness.
