World Food Day 2025: KAI Supports Food Security Through Fertilizer Transport and Green Logistics
On October 16, the world observes World Food Day as a reminder that everyone has the right to sufficient, safe, and nutritious food. This year also marks the 80th anniversary of the FAO, which continues to encourage global efforts to maintain food security amid climate change.
In Indonesia, food security is also supported through the railway network. KAI plays an important role in distributing agricultural logistics, especially fertilizers, efficiently, on time, and in an environmentally friendly way.
Between January and September 2025, KAI transported 16,110 tons of fertilizer to various agricultural regions. The highest shipment volume occurred in May 2025, reaching 4,110 tons as farmers prepared for the planting season.
"Every sack of fertilizer we transport carries the hope of farmers for a better harvest," said Anne Purba, Vice President of Public Relations at KAI.
Anne explained that KAI’s digital logistics system enables real-time shipment monitoring, making the process faster and more accurate. "We continue to choose green transportation routes based on rail, which are energy-efficient and low-emission, to strengthen the national food supply chain," she said.
With its extensive rail network and continuously improving logistics services, KAI remains committed to supporting farmers and ensuring food availability across Indonesia.
