PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) consistently provides free booster vaccination services at stations and at Klinik Mediska facilities, which are KAI health clinics located within station areas, for prospective train passengers. This step is an effort to help customers complete the requirements for long-distance train travel.

The free booster vaccination service is currently available at Gambir Station, Pasar Senen Station, Semarang Tawang Station, Purwokerto Station, Surabaya Pasar Turi Station, Surabaya Gubeng Station, Malang Station, Bandung Mediska Clinic, Cirebon Mediska Clinic, Yogyakarta Mediska Clinic, Madiun Mediska Clinic, Jember Mediska Clinic, Ketapang Mediska Clinic, and Probolinggo Mediska Clinic.

“We urge prospective passengers to get vaccinated no later than H-1 before the departure date so it is not too close to their train schedule,” said VP Public Relations KAI Joni Martinus.

KAI still applies train travel requirements in accordance with Minister of Transportation Circular Letter No. 84 of 2022 and Ministry of Health Circular Letter No. HK.02.02/II/3984/2022 since 19 December 2022. If later the government, in this case the Ministry of Transportation, changes the travel requirements, KAI will support and comply with the policy and immediately inform the public.

Meanwhile, based on KAI monitoring on Monday, 17 April 2023 at 07.00 WIB, tickets for long-distance trains that have been sold for the 2023 Eid transportation period reached 2,236,777 tickets or 73% of the total 3,065,404 tickets provided. This number is still expected to increase as sales continue.

The favorite routes so far for the pre-Eid period are dominated by passengers traveling from the west (Jakarta/Bandung) to the east (Central and East Java). For the post-Eid period, passengers are dominated by those traveling from the east (Central/East Java) to the west (Jakarta/Bandung).

Meanwhile, based on departure dates, the most popular dates include:

16 April 2023 = 98%
15 and 24 April 2023 = 97%
19 and 25 April 2023 = 94%

“If the desired tickets are sold out, passengers can choose alternative dates or use the Connecting Train feature in the KAI Access application, which helps provide travel options by combining connecting train schedules,” said Joni.

Joni stated that trains are a mode of transportation that is free from traffic congestion and punctual in bringing passengers to meet their families and relatives faster. In fact, KAI’s current on-time performance is 99.6%.

KAI gradually continues to improve train travel time through infrastructure improvements. As a result, trains can reach speeds of up to 120 km per hour. Despite the increased speed, train travel safety remains the top priority.
