KAI Urges Train Passengers to Anticipate Road Traffic on the Way to the Station
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) urges all customers to allocate sufficient travel time when heading to their departure station. This is intended to help passengers avoid missing their trains.
"Considering that road traffic congestion tends to increase during the Eid homecoming season, we encourage customers to continue using trains as their preferred mode of transportation to return to their hometowns while planning their departure time from home to the station accordingly," said KAI Vice President of Public Relations, Joni Martinus.
Based on KAI's monitoring as of Sunday, 16 April 2023, at 07:00 WIB, a total of 2,170,643 Long-Distance Train tickets had been sold for the 2023 Eid Transportation period, representing 71% of the total 3,065,404 tickets available. This number is expected to continue increasing as ticket sales remain ongoing.
So far, the most popular travel routes before Eid are dominated by passengers traveling from the western region (Jakarta/Bandung) to the eastern region (Central Java and East Java). After Eid, the travel pattern is reversed, with passengers predominantly traveling from the eastern region (Central Java/East Java) back to the western region (Jakarta/Bandung).
Train services that have reached 100% occupancy include Airlangga (Pasar Senen – Surabaya Pasarturi round trip), Sri Tanjung (Lempuyangan – Ketapang round trip), Kahuripan (Kiaracondong – Blitar round trip), Additional Pasundan (Kiaracondong – Surabaya Gubeng round trip), Rajabasa (Kertapati – Tanjungkarang round trip), Bengawan (Pasar Senen – Purwosari round trip), Probowangi (Surabaya Gubeng – Ketapang round trip), Bukit Serelo (Kertapati – Lubuklinggau round trip), Tawang Alun (Malang Kota Lama – Ketapang round trip), Ranggajati (Cirebon – Jember round trip), Jayabaya (Pasar Senen – Malang round trip), and others.
Meanwhile, there are still plenty of tickets available for Long-Distance Train services during the 2023 Eid Transportation period, including Argo Bromo Anggrek (Gambir – Surabaya Pasarturi round trip), Argo Dwipangga (Gambir – Solo Balapan round trip), Argo Parahyangan (Gambir – Bandung round trip), Sembrani (Gambir – Surabaya Pasarturi round trip), Taksaka (Gambir – Yogyakarta round trip), Purwojaya (Gambir – Cilacap), Senja Utama YK (Pasar Senen – Yogyakarta round trip), and others.
Based on departure dates, the most popular Long-Distance Train travel dates are:
- 24 April 2023 = 94% booked
- 25 April 2023 = 92% booked
- 19 & 20 April 2023 = 91% booked
"If the desired tickets are sold out, customers can choose alternative travel dates or use the Connecting Train feature in the KAI Access application, which provides travel options by combining connecting train schedules," Joni concluded.
