PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) announced that train tickets for the 2023 Eid Transportation period are still available. Based on data as of Thursday, 13 April 2023, a total of 1,929,569 Long-Distance Train tickets had been sold for departures during the 2023 Eid Transportation period, representing 63% of the total 3,065,404 tickets available.

"This number will continue to increase as ticket sales are still ongoing. KAI encourages the public to book their tickets as soon as possible because there are still plenty of train tickets available for the 2023 Eid travel season," said KAI Vice President of Public Relations, Joni Martinus.

KAI's 2023 Eid Transportation period runs from 14 April to 2 May 2023. So far, the most popular departure dates for the Eid homecoming journey are 20 April 2023, with 86% seat occupancy, and 19 April 2023, with 85% occupancy. For the return journey, the most popular dates are 24 April 2023 with 88% occupancy and 25 April 2023 with 87% occupancy.

The average occupancy rate for Long-Distance Trains during the outbound Eid travel period from 14 to 18 April 2023 remains at 67%. Meanwhile, the average occupancy during the return travel period from 26 April to 2 May 2023 stands at 53%.

KAI encourages the public to travel by train for homecoming, holidays, or other travel purposes, as rail transportation offers many advantages, including high safety standards, a healthy and comfortable travel experience, punctual service, and an extensive station network connecting city centers with rural areas.

To further enhance customer service during the 2023 Eid Transportation period, KAI has introduced several additional facilities. These include complimentary iftar snack packages (takjil) distributed from 12 to 21 April 2023 at 21 major stations. A total of 34,400 snack packages containing bread, bottled water, and dates are being provided to passengers.

In addition, KAI has redesigned its Luxury Train customer experience through new luxury train services and an upgraded lounge experience. The improvements include enhanced customer service touchpoints before, during, and after the journey. KAI has also upgraded its Executive Lounges to provide a more comfortable and premium experience at eight stations: Gambir, Cirebon, Purwokerto, Yogyakarta, Solo Balapan, Semarang Tawang, Surabaya Pasarturi, and Malang.

"KAI remains committed to continuously improving customer service, especially during peak travel seasons. Traveling by train during the Eid homecoming and return periods also helps passengers avoid the risk of road accidents and traffic congestion, allowing everyone to enjoy the Eid holiday safely and pleasantly," Joni concluded.
