Eid Travel Season Is Approaching: KAI Reminds Passengers of Baggage Rules
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) will operate its 2023 Eid Transportation period from 14 April to 2 May 2023. To ensure a safe and comfortable journey for all passengers, KAI reminds customers to comply with the company's baggage regulations before traveling.
"Passengers are allowed to bring baggage free of charge with a maximum weight of 20 kg and a maximum volume of 100 dm³, with dimensions not exceeding 70 x 48 x 30 cm, and a maximum of four baggage items," said KAI Vice President of Public Relations, Joni Martinus.
If, during the boarding process, a passenger is found to be carrying baggage exceeding these limits, excess baggage fees will apply as follows:
- Executive Class: Rp10,000 per kg
- Business Class: Rp6,000 per kg
- Economy Class: Rp2,000 per kg
Passengers may place their baggage on the overhead luggage rack or in another designated area that does not obstruct or endanger other passengers or cause damage to the train.
"For baggage exceeding 200 dm³ (70 x 48 x 60 cm), passengers are not permitted to bring it into the passenger cabin. Instead, we recommend using railway freight services such as KAI Logistik," Joni explained.
KAI also reminds passengers that the following items are not permitted as train baggage:
- Live animals
- Narcotics, psychotropic substances, and other illegal drugs
- Firearms and sharp weapons
- Flammable or explosive materials
- Foul-smelling items or goods that may disturb passengers or pose health risks
- Items prohibited by applicable laws and regulations
- Any other items deemed unsuitable for carriage by boarding officers due to their size, condition, or nature
"We hope all passengers comply with the baggage regulations when traveling by train so that everyone can enjoy a safe, comfortable, and pleasant journey," Joni concluded.
