Do you enjoy traveling by train? Train transportation has become a favorite choice because it is fast and free from traffic congestion. Travelers who choose trains usually want to enjoy the scenery throughout the journey. Therefore, it is not surprising that many people consider trains their preferred mode of transportation for traveling, including during holidays. Moreover, train ticket prices are relatively affordable.

Have you ever been curious about the differences between the train classes provided by KAI? Understanding the differences between train classes is important for those who want to book train tickets, so you can enjoy services and facilities according to your preferences. What classes are available? Let's see the explanation below.

1. Economy Class

Economy Class is the most affordable class among all train classes. Economy trains have 80 to 106 seats in one carriage and are the class with the highest number of seats.

Currently, Economy Class has undergone many improvements, including the availability of air conditioning and electrical outlets. Like other classes, this class is also equipped with luggage racks for storing belongings and clean toilets.

There are several types of Economy Class trains, including Economy Class with a capacity of 106 seats, Economy Class with a capacity of 80 seats, and Economy Class with a capacity of 64 seats, which is specifically prioritized for passengers with disabilities, elderly passengers, and customers with special needs.

The latest Economy Class configurations include New Image Economy and Premium Economy.

Premium Economy Class is an improved version of New Image Economy. Both have a capacity of 80 passengers. The seats are divided into two arrangements: seats facing the direction of train movement and seats facing the opposite direction.

Passengers do not need to worry about feeling tired during the journey because this class is equipped with reclining seats and armrests.

2. Business Class

Business Class has facilities that are slightly different from Executive Class, particularly because it does not have reclining seats.

The seat position can be adjusted according to passenger preferences, including facing the seats in front or behind. Similar to Economy Class, Business Class is also equipped with air conditioning and electrical outlets.

3. Executive Class

If you want greater comfort, choose Executive Class.

An Executive Class carriage accommodates only 50 passengers. The facilities provided are more complete. The seating arrangement in Executive Class is 2-2. The seats are soft and adjustable according to passenger preferences.

The legroom is spacious and equipped with footrests, allowing passengers to stretch their legs more comfortably.

This class is also equipped with electrical outlets, blankets, televisions, dining tables, toilets, air conditioning, and Wi-Fi facilities available on selected trains.

Executive Class trains also have shorter travel times because they do not stop at many stations.

4. Luxury Class

Want to travel by train with a higher level of comfort? Then you should consider booking a Luxury Class train ticket.

The first generation of KAI Luxury Class trains, also known as sleeper trains, was introduced in 2018 with a capacity of 18 seats.

Besides comfortable seats that can recline up to 170 degrees, other facilities include passenger dividers, onboard entertainment, storage drawers, reading lamps, electrical outlets, and headphones.

KAI later introduced the second generation of Luxury Class trains in 2019 with a capacity of 26 seats.

Facilities available include reading lamps, electrical outlets, and seats that can recline up to 140 degrees. In addition, KAI provides a complimentary full meal, snacks, and beverages for passengers in this class.

Passengers can also enjoy Luxury Waiting Lounge facilities available at selected stations. While waiting for the train, passengers can relax and enjoy complimentary tea or coffee.

Traveling by train is certainly an enjoyable experience. Among the various train classes available, which one would you choose for your next journey?

The decision to choose Economy, Business, Executive, or Luxury Class depends entirely on your preference. Regardless of your choice, don't forget to purchase your ticket through the KAI Access application because it is easier and more convenient without having to visit the station.
