Various activities organized by KAI on this anniversary celebration include:
Balai Yasa Open House Event
The celebration of the 2022 Railway Anniversary began with the Balai Yasa Open House Event at three Balai Yasa such as Manggarai, Yogyakarta, and Surabaya Gubeng overall spanning from September 23 to 28, 2022. This Balai Yasa Open House was organized for the first time.
In the Balai Yasa Open House activity, visitors can see and understand the facility maintenance process, view repaired trains, carriages, and locomotives, see various Balai Yasa maintenance facilities, superior products and innovations of Balai Yasa, history of each Balai Yasa, take a mini-tour within the Balai Yasa environment, exhibition of MSME products, as well as games and attractive entertainment.
President Director of KAI Didiek Hartantyo said that KAI wants to introduce to the public that the company's services are not only located within the station environment, but also have a modern railway workshop, namely Balai Yasa. Balai Yasa plays a role in maintaining facilities to ensure customer safety and comfort.
Safety Socialization at Level Crossings
Then, to reduce the number of accidents at railway level crossings, KAI also organized safety socialization activities in those areas. Safety socialization at level crossings was carried out in various Operational Areas and Regional Divisions.
There was something special about this socialization activity because Regional Division I North Sumatra received an award from the Indonesian Museum of Records titled the Record for "Simultaneous Safety Socialization at Railway Level Crossings in the Most Locations". The award was achieved for holding safety socializations at 77 crossing points at the same time, namely on Friday (30/8) at 09.00 WIB.
Regional Division I deployed as many as 350 workers from various units to carry out the crossing socialization.
“Providing safety socialization to the public and road users around level crossings is not the first time we have done this. Almost every month we implement it at different level crossing locations. However, at this momentum of KAI's 77th anniversary, we want to reach even further, namely at 77 level crossings simultaneously. It's not just about a record but also being able to increase public awareness to obey traffic rules at level crossings,” said Yuskal Setiawan as Vice President of Regional Division I North Sumatra.
Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) Activities
As a state-owned enterprise, KAI routinely rolls out TJSL programs across all operational areas. On the company's 77th anniversary celebration, various kinds of TJSL activities have been carried out in various regions.
Such as blood donation activities organized in almost all company operational areas. KAI also pays attention to the world of education by providing facility and infrastructure assistance to schools.
Still related to the world of education, KAI organized the 77 Friends of KAI Diffabled with the tagline We Hear, We Serve. In the program, KAI held sign language training for all KAI employees, especially front-line workers from all Operational Areas, Regional Divisions, Head Office, and Subsidiaries so they could become KAI diffabled friend ambassadors.
The sign language learned includes introductions to sign language such as greetings, daily sign language, and service sign language on board the train.
In addition to welcoming KAI's 77th anniversary, this event also aims to improve KAI's service to customers, especially those with disabilities.
As an effort to revive the economic activity of Small and Medium Enterprises, especially fostered partners, KAI organized MSME bazaars in various regions. In addition, it also provided Partnership assistance, one of which was worth Rp550 million to the Pulomina Fish Cultivation Group in Kalianyar Village, Ngroggot, Nganjuk, East Java by Operational Area 7 Madiun.
In order to provide more benefits to the environment and community, KAI carried out its 77,000th tree planting activity right during the company's anniversary celebration this year. Through this tree planting, KAI strives to green the environment and improve air quality.
KAI carried out the 77,000th tree planting at the Ir. H. Djuanda Education and Training Center Yard, Bandung. The 77,000th tree planted was a purple tabebuia tree. Purple tabebuia was chosen because it has beautiful flowers to look at, even said to resemble Japan's signature cherry blossoms.
Other TJSL activities carried out by KAI to celebrate this anniversary were compensation for orphans, holding free health check-up and treatment social service activities, and providing health support equipment such as glasses.
