Yogyakarta International Airport Rail Link Available Free of Charge During Introductory Period
Starting Wednesday, 1 September 2021, the public can use the Yogyakarta International Airport Rail Link free of charge following its soft launching on 27 August 2021.
"The Rp0 fare will be valid from 1 to 16 September 2021 as part of an introductory period to familiarize the public with the Yogyakarta International Airport Rail Link service," said KAI Vice President Public Relations Joni Martinus.
Tickets for the Yogyakarta International Airport Rail Link can be obtained at ticket counters at stations along the Yogyakarta – Yogyakarta International Airport route starting three hours before the scheduled departure. To maintain physical distancing, KAI only sells tickets up to 50% of the train's seating capacity.
In accordance with the Ministry of Transportation Circular Letter No. 58 of 2021, the Yogyakarta International Airport Rail Link, which is categorized as a local urban train service, is currently available only for workers in the Essential and Critical Sectors. During boarding, passengers are required to present a Worker Registration Certificate (STRP), another certificate issued by the relevant local government, or an assignment letter from their employer.
Passengers are not required to present a vaccination card or a negative RT-PCR or Rapid Test Antigen result. However, random Rapid Test Antigen screening will be conducted for passengers at the station.
"Passengers are still required to strictly follow all health protocols while using the Yogyakarta International Airport Rail Link facilities to ensure everyone's safety," said Joni.

After the introductory period ends, starting 17 September, tickets for the Yogyakarta International Airport Rail Link can also be purchased through the KAI Access application with the following promotional fares:

Wates Station – Yogyakarta International Airport Station: Rp20,000
The Yogyakarta International Airport Rail Link covers a distance of 40.2 km between Yogyakarta Station and Yogyakarta International Airport Station. By using this service, travel time is reduced from approximately 1.5 hours to just 39 minutes.
The Yogyakarta International Airport Rail Link provides easier access for travelers continuing their journeys to various destinations, as Yogyakarta International Airport is now integrated with the national railway network.
