Starting Wednesday, 3 November 2021, passengers traveling on Long-Distance Trains are only required to present a certificate showing a negative Rapid Antigen Test result taken within a maximum of 1x24 hours before departure.

This policy follows the issuance of the Ministry of Transportation Circular Letter No. 97 of 2021 concerning Guidelines for Domestic Travel by Railway Transportation During the COVID-19 Pandemic, dated 2 November 2021.

"KAI consistently follows and complies with all government regulations to prevent the spread of COVID-19 through railway transportation," said KAI Vice President Public Relations Joni Martinus.

The complete travel requirements for train passengers are as follows:

1. Long-Distance Train and Local Train passengers must present a COVID-19 vaccination card showing at least the first vaccine dose. This requirement does not apply to passengers with special medical conditions who cannot or have not yet been vaccinated based on a certificate from a specialist doctor, or to children under 12 years of age.

2. Long-Distance Train passengers must present a certificate showing a negative Rapid Antigen Test result taken within a maximum of 1x24 hours before the scheduled departure.

3. Children under 12 years old must be accompanied by a parent or family member, as proven by a Family Card (Kartu Keluarga).

4. Train ticket bookings must include the passenger's National Identity Number (NIK) in the identification number field. This requirement applies to both adult and child passengers to validate vaccination status and COVID-19 test records, as KAI has integrated the PeduliLindungi application with its boarding system.

While using KAI services, customers must comply with health protocols, including wearing masks, washing hands with soap and running water, maintaining physical distance, avoiding crowds, reducing unnecessary travel, avoiding group dining, and using hand sanitizer.

Customers must also be in good health, showing no symptoms such as flu, runny nose, cough, loss of smell, diarrhea, or fever, and must have a body temperature not exceeding 37.3 degrees Celsius.

Passengers are required to wear a three-layer cloth mask or a medical mask covering both the nose and mouth. Throughout the journey, passengers are not allowed to engage in one-way or two-way conversations by phone or in person. Eating and drinking are prohibited during trips lasting less than two hours, except for individuals who must take medication for medical reasons where not doing so could endanger their health or safety.
